This bill implements recommendations of the department of regulatory agencies’ sunset review on the division of professions and occupations in the department of regulatory agencies, including allowing some delegation of tasks, increasing allowed time to request a hearing, and allowing communication by email. It also restores previously repealed provisions for enrollment by endorsement for engineer-interns and land surveyor-interns and licensure by endorsement for professional engineers and professional land surveyors. CUT supports these administrative changes, especially since the originally proposed fee increase has been withdrawn. However, CUT remains concerned that the State is spending $37.5M and employs 203.6 FTEs, in addition to various boards, in a trend to regulate more and more specific professions.
