CUT Opposes SB25B-001, Processes to Reduce Spending During Shortfall

While there are similarities to HB25B-1016, we are concerned that this bill is a violation of “The Separation of Powers” as it passes ‘the power of the purse’ from the Legislature to the Governor, allowing the latter to pick and choose favorites.

Concerning the processes for the governor to reduce spending when the state is unable to meet its fiscal obligations, and, in connection therewith, requiring the governor to present spending reduction plans to the joint budget committee and receive advice from the joint budget committee.
